Entering Top Fashion Modeling Contests

Top fashion modeling contests are a enjoyable way of trying to break into fashion modeling, whether you’re new to it or not. Of course there are some things to keep in mind when it comes to searching and submitting yourself to them.

You can find top fashion modeling contests online through search engines like Google, although the results will be so numerous, it can be puzzling. You can also try looking for female modeling contest info at online modeling communities like Modelcruz.com. Sometimes the people who are putting on the contests advertise on websites like those in order to get models to enter. Regardless of how you find out about them, be sure that you only enter glamour modeling contests that you qualify for and be sure to read all the contest rules. There may be things listed in the fine print that aren’t stated up front elsewhere. Many also have age requirements. Most will be 18+. Unfortunately, teen model contests are pretty rare but if you look hard enough, I’m sure you’ll find them.

When submitting your photos to any fashion modeling contest, be sure they are top quality and professional. This isn’t the time and place for pictures taken on your camera phone. No Myspace type photos, either. Many female teen modeling contests will disqualify you if you have photos posted that aren’t professional. This is a contest after all so present you in the best way possible. Also take into account the theme of the contest. Is it a swimwear competition? Sports wear? Glamour? The type of contest you want to enter will determine what types of pictures you should upload. Only choose the ones that fit the contest.

Nowadays many fashion modeling contests require contribution from their online viewers, which may involve getting votes. If this is the type of contest you are interested in entering, be sure to be ready to work! Many of the models in these contests have no problems getting hundreds to thousands of votes a day so you’ll have to be prepared to work just as hard if not harder to get the right amount of votes to advance you throughout your competition. Some modeling contests offer promotional materials such as online banners that you can put on your Myspace pages, websites, forums and anywhere else you want to plug them. Use these resources since they are there to help you…not to mention free! Think of all your friends and family when it comes to asking for votes. Be sure to let them know the basic rules and how they can vote. You’d be surprised how many votes you can lose because people aren’t sure where to go, what to do and how to vote. Chris Brown and Rihanna Miss the 2009 Grammy Awards

Chris Brown and Rihanna Miss the Grammy Awards (Due to Domestic Assault). I was so sad to not see Rihanna or Chris Brown at the Grammy Awards tonight. Then I found out from E online why the couple didn’t show. Grammy day was supposed to be a glittery affair for R&B’s reigning It couple, Chris Brown and Rihanna. But things went horribly amiss.

About the time Brown was scheduled to be singing “Forever” onstage at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, he was instead detained by police, being questioned for allegedly roughing up Rihanna.
Brown, 19, turned himself in at the LAPD’s Wilshire station around 6:30 p.m. and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of four years. The case will now be sent to the district attorney’s office and further charges could be filed. He was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.

“He was very professional and didn’t appear to have injuries,” said Sgt. Bridget Pickett, adding, “He’s a good looking young man.”

While Brown appeared unscathed, sources tell E! News that the alleged victim was Rihanna, 20, and that she suffered visible bruises on her face during an early morning confrontation. Both in turn balked at scheduled Grammy appearances.

A spokeswoman for Brown’s label declined comment and calls to his attorney, Mark Geragos, weren’t immediately returned.

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s publicist, Amanda Silverman, said the “Disturbia” singer “is well. Thank you for concern and support.” Read the rest of this entry »

How to Do Taylor Swift’s Hair at the Grammys

Source: www.imageandstylenews.com

How to Do Taylor Swift’s Hair at the Grammys Taylor Swift’s beautiful look at last night’s Grammy Awards Show turned heads as the star wove her signature, long blonde curly hair in a luminous, deconstructed up do that was fresh and slightly bohemian.

Leading award-winning celebrity stylist Enzo Angileri, who styles looks for a long list of Hollywood A-list clients such as Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez and Faith Hill, created the elegantly spirited look.

Angileri created the eye-catching style by first using a medium-sized curling iron throughout the hair to create volume at the roots for added lift.

He then used Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream, a leave-on conditioner enhanced by Argan Oil, on the ends to hydrate, smooth definition and restore hair’s elasticity after using the curling iron.

Angileri says he asked Taylor Swift to “lift up her face up to the sky” and bring her chin all the way up. He gathered all of her hair together in one, quick movement, and twirled it round, and into place.

He misted Taylor’s hair with new Moroccanoil® Gold Glimmer Shine Spray, infused with Argan Oil, from a distance of 10-12 inches, to create a weightless veil of shine on the hair. Finally, hair was pinned in place with 4-5 strategically placed bobby pins.

According to Angileri, “I wanted to create a lightweight look that was unstructured and looked product-free. Taylor has really beautiful hair and I wanted to make the most of its special texture and create a unique look to show off her beautiful features.”

How to Get the Katy Perry 2009 Grammy Hairstyle

How to Get the Katy Perry 2009 Grammy Hairstyle. Everyone adored Katie Perry’s hairstyle that had a very retro vibe, 40’s waves.  Suave celebrity hairstylist, Luke O’Connor, has a few tips on how to recreate this look at home:

Shampoo and condition hair with the Suave Damage Control line to moisturize hair and add a layer of protection from the curling iron used in this look. Take two to three inch sections of hair and roll into barrel curls around a one inch curling iron, using the iron as if a roller. Clip each roll to set in place. Work from the top down until all hair is set. Once finished (and hair is cool) apply a light mist of Suave Extra Hold Hairspray. Remove clips and lightly brush through hair to create a soft wave. Finish off with another spritz of hairspray.

U.S. celebrates as President Obama vows new era

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Barack Obama promised to tap the virtues and resiliency of Americans as his administration ushers in an era of accountability and improved dialogue with the world.

In his inaugural address Tuesday, Obama thanked those who sacrificed so much so “a man whose father, less than 60 years ago, might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.”

People crowded the National Mall and surrounding area that encompasses the Capitol, White House and Lincoln Memorial. They sang, danced and waved flags as Obama’s swearing-in approached.

“This is America happening,” said Evadey Minott of Brooklyn, New York. “It was prophesized by King that we would have a day when everyone would come together. This is that day. I am excited. I am joyful. It brings tears to my eyes.”

Many in the crowd seemed moved as Aretha Franklin belted out a rousing version of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” before Joe Biden was sworn in as vice president.

Best money lessons to teach your kids

(OPRAH.com) — While reading “The New York Times,” an article called “The Frugal Teenager, Ready or Not,” caught Oprah’s attention. The writer discussed parents who, for the first time in years, are saying no to their children and cutting back on frivolous spending.

Suze Orman is one of America’s leading experts on personal finance.

As the economic crisis begins to hit home, millions of overindulged children are being forced to live without designer clothes, the latest techno-toys and big birthday bashes.

Wendy and Paul Postle, parents featured in the “New York Times” article, say they’ve realized always saying yes to their two children could cost them their future.

Just a few years ago, Wendy admits that she and her husband indulged their teenagers, Kaitlyn and Zach, in many ways. “It made me proud to give them what they wanted,” Paul says. “I guess as parents, you try to give them things that you didn’t have.”

Most years, Paul says the kids’ birthdays were celebrated with over-the-top parties. A video of Zach’s first birthday shows a baby surrounded by gifts that he couldn’t even open. “It’s a perfect example of how we overdid parties,” Wendy says.

Paul says he and his family lived like their luck — and money — would never run out. “It was a lifestyle of you know, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll get more,’ meaning money,” he says. “The times were good, and there could be no fall.”

Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last. Like millions of families across the country, the Postles saw the price of gas, water, electricity and groceries climb as stock prices fell. Wendy says they began exceeding their household budget, which meant they had to start cutting back in other areas.

Paul and Wendy made the decision to share their bills with the children, who didn’t understand why they couldn’t buy everything they wanted. “I wanted them to realize it’s a lot harder to stay solvent these days,” Wendy says. Read the rest of this entry »

Removing Red Eye On Photo

You’ve seen the dreaded demon-eye effect that occurs when the camera flash bounces off the eye of a person or pet. An otherwise wonderful picture can be ruined by this.

Technically, this is called red-eye and is caused when the pupil of your subject’s eye is wide open and the light from the camera’s flash reflects off the subjects retina. In people, the color ends up red; in pets, the color is often green.

Many photo editing programs include a red-eye correction filter, but this may not allow your photograph subject to appear “normal. These filters also do not work on the green effect produced in a pet’s eyes. Photo stores sell pens that are used to clear up red-eye, but again they are not always natural-looking and do not work on the green. The best thing is to prevent the demon-eye effect from the start.

It is rare to find a digital camera that does not come with a red-eye reduction feature. This feature can be turned off or on. It is best left on in all circumstances other than direct sunlight. The red-eye reduction feature works by flashing a short burst of light at your subject before you snap the picture. This burst of light causes the subject’s pupil to close and makes it less likely for the camera’s flash to reflect off the retina. This in turn reduces the chance of red-eye.

It also helps to direct the flash of your camera so it does not directly hit your subject’s eyes. Bouncing the flash off a nearby wall or other object will soften its effect and reduce the chances of this unwanted malady. Between bouncing the flash and using your digital camera’s red-eye reduction feature, your little angel, whether human or animal, will have eyes that don’t glow.
